We offer a free 20 minute phone consultation. Face to face services are offered our Beach Rd office. We also offer tele-health services via a secure HIPPA compliant web-platform.

  • The main differences between a psychologist, an art therapist, and a psychiatrist are their training, approach, and ability to prescribe medication.

    1. Psychologist

    • Training: Holds a degree (Master’s or PhD) in psychology.

    • Approach: Uses talk therapy (like cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychoanalysis, etc.) to help with mental health issues.

    • Medication? Cannot prescribe medication (except in some places like parts of the U.S. where they have special training).

    2. Art Therapist

    • Training: Has a background in both psychology and art therapy, usually with a specialized degree or certification.

    • Approach: Uses art-making (drawing, painting, sculpture, etc.) as a tool for expression and healing—especially helpful for trauma, children, or people who struggle with verbal communication.

    • Medication? No prescribing rights.

    3. Psychiatrist

    • Training: A medical doctor (M.D.) specializing in psychiatry.

    • Approach: Focuses on diagnosing and treating mental illnesses, often using medication. They can also provide therapy but usually focus on medical management.

    • Medication? Yes, can prescribe medication (like antidepressants, antipsychotics, etc.).

  • Psychotherapy can help with a wide range of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, and stress-related problems. It supports individuals struggling with relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, grief, and major life transitions. Therapy also addresses behavioral patterns like addiction, anger management, and perfectionism while promoting personal growth and emotional resilience. By providing coping strategies and self-awareness, psychotherapy helps people navigate challenges, improve well-being, and develop healthier thought and behavior patterns.

  • No you do not need a referral.  You may contact us directly.

    Psychotherapists’s often work in collaboration with an extended treatment team, for example a psychiatrist or a Doctor (general practitioner). Our therapists can also refer clients to other medical or mental health practitioners in the event they believe further treatment is necessary. 

  • While we don’t work directly with insurance companies we can provide all documentation required should you wish to independently claim from your insurer. We would generally advice to confirm your insurance benefits if needed before starting treatment. 

  • Our therapists will work directly with you to discuss appointment availabilities and scheduling. All sessions are by appointment only.
